This watercolour of a port scene is by local artist John Chapman. Chapman used to sit and watch in fascination as his brother sketched scenes. He gradually was inspired by this and began to sketch himself. John was asked to attend classes at Blackburn College and whilst at school was introduced to train-spotting, from his friends. He painted trains, boat scenes and places around Lancashire. This is one of the boat scenes.
