FINE PERIOD CHIPPENDALE MAHOGANY ARMCHAIR, ENGLISH, GEORGIAN C1760

Description: This magnificent and imposing chair dates to around 1760 - 1800. The carving is crisp and the Cuban mahogany glows beautifully. A genuine period example of large proportions and very heavy quality. The undulating crest rail over a pierced vasiform back splat which is carved to perfection, the elegant arms - carved to the knuckles, the 'slip-seat' freshly upholstered in a quality peacock-print. The square legs with neat edge moulding and chamfered to the inside - all signs of top workmanship. H stretchers and slightly raised back leg stretcher typical of the period. A fine piece of furniture. Please bid with confidence.
